DUKE OF GLOUCESTER
RADIO FROM CRUISER * GENIAL SUNSHINE ENJOYED SYDNEY, Dec. 11 A radio message from the cruiser H.M.A.S. Australia, which is conveying the Duke of Gloucester from Brisbane to Wellington, states that the vessel is doing 15 knots and that genial sunshine prevails. The Duke's six weeks' tour of New Zealand will make an appreciable addition to his mileage, which, since he left London, ha:s amounted to 20,640 miles. This comprises 11,235 miles by sea, 5514 by train, 2841 by car and 1050 by aeroplane. CIGARETTE INCIDENT " FORGOTTEN " BY DUKE REPLY TO FIRE BOARD BRISBANE. Dec. 11 At a meeting of the Toowoomba Fire Brigade Board a reply to the board's apology to the Duke of Gloucester for the request made to him by a fireman to put out his cigarette at a dance was deceived from the Duke's equerry. The reply states that the Duke understands the position and, while he is grateful for the apology and the spirit which prompted it, the incident has been forgotten.
