TASMAN YACHT RACE

GERMAN VESSEL SIGHTED OTHER COMPETITOR NOT SEEN One of the two competitors in the Tasman yacht race, the German yacht Te Rapunga, was sighted three miles west-north-west of the Cavalli Islands, north of Russell, at six o'clock on Tuesday evening by the crew of tha motor-vessel Tiri, which arrived at Auckland from Awanui yesterday morning. Captain Robertson, the master of the Tiri, stated that his vessel passed about a mile from the Te Rapunga. The yacht had all sail set to a light northerly breeze and was heading toward the North Cape. Nothing was seen of the other competitor, the Ngataki. It was thought that she had continued on her course during the rough weather at the weekend as the wind woulfl' have, been in her favour when <£herwas clear of tha Bauraki Gulf.
