RAIN IN WAIKATO

BENEFIT TO PASTURES FURTHER FALL NEEDED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, "Wednesday There was no rain, in Hamilton between 6.30 p.m. yesterday and 6.30 a.m. to-day. A shower fell abont eight o'clock this morning, and since then the weather has been fine. The rainfall for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today totalled 0.01 in., which equalled the previous total rainfall for the month. What rain has fallen will be very beneficial to pastures, but a great deal more is needed. LIGHT FRANKLIN SHOWERS VERY HUMID CONDITIONS [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday Further light rain fell in the Franklin district during last night, but a much heavier fall is required to give the soil a thorough soaking. Conditions in Pukekohe to-day were very humid but the weather appears to have temporarily cleared. Since the rain commenced on Sunday the gauge at the Pukekohe school has recorded a fall of only 0.37 in. The fall since 9 a.m. yesterday has been 0.27 in., with 0.07 in. registered yesterday morning, and 0.03 in. on Monday morning. Gardens and pastures, although well refreshed, will be improved by further rain. Tanks were very low and the light rain has not completely filled them.
