LADIES' NIGHT HELD A new and successful innovation in the history of the Auckland Masonic Institute and Club was the " ladies' night" which was held last evening in the elubrooms, a large number of members and their wives attending. The entrance hall and staircase were transformed 'with flags and bunting, while large tubs of flowering pohutukawa and hydrangeas on the landings completed a particularly colourful decorative scheme. The reception rooms were arranged witli howls of gladioli, stocks and sweet peas. On arrival the guests were received by the president, Mr. H. T. Gibson, who was accompanied by Mrs. Gibson, wearing a frock of black taffeta and lace. In addition to competitions and games, dancing took place in the Stratton Studio, which had been engaged for the evening, and for which O'Malley's orchestra provided the latest dance music. Humorous items by Mr. Ilex Yates, a flute solo by Mr. V. Cater, a monologue by Mr. W. B. Max Walker, a tenor solo by Mr. Eskridge and community singing led by Mr. T.
