ROAD TO COAL MINE
GOVERNMENT GRANT MADE [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday The Minister for Public Works, the Hon. J. Bitchener, has advised Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P., that a free grant of £IOO has been approved for the improving of Brown's Road, Opaheke, which will give access to a coal mine operated by local men who have previously been on relief work. The matter was discussed at a meeting of the Franklin County Council in August when Mr. Massey undertook to make representations to the Minister. It was explained that the men asked for 17 chains of the access road to the mine to be metalled.
