BOWLING OPENING
REMUERA CLUB Scattered showers and a cold southerly wind somewhat marred the sporting fixtures in Auckland on Saturday, but in spite of this the opening of the Remuera Bowling Club was well attended by members and their wives. The tall hedges, surrounding the greens served as a shelter against the wind, and the verandahs were comfortably arranged with chairs and lounges. The president, Mr. W. M. Jackson, opened the greens for the season. The president of the Auckland Bowline Association, Mr. F. Hosking, and the president of the New Zealand Bowling Association, Mr. R. SheaTh, also addressed the gathering. Mrs. Jackson threw the first jack and was presented with a bouquet of pansies and anemones by the secretary of the club, Mr. W. Bowles, on behalf of club members. Among the ladies present were: Mrs. R. Sheath, Mrs. H. Mahon, Mrs. E. N. Ormiston, Mrs. J. Wooller. Mrs. W. Wallace, Mrs. Bray, Mrs. W. T. Bell, Mrs. A. E.
