TROUBLE IN FAR EAST
POLICE AND MILITARY JAPANESE ACTION RESENTED SHANGHAI. Oct. 18 A dispute between the police and military in the Kwantung province has taken a serious turn with the resignation to-day of three of the highest officials of the Kwantung Government. This is a protest against the decision of the Japanese Cabinet that Japanese gendarmerie in the three eastern provinces should 'command the Japanese police. The decision has aroused bitter opposition from the police. The heads of the Dairen police announce their intention to recommend the resignation of the entire force. The Kwantung Army is ready to replace all the resigned officers and men with members of the militia.
