DOCTOR'S LUCKY ACT
READING IN BED Rending in bed saved a New Maiden doctor's life last month. Dr. 11. Davison, aged 83, of Parkview, a former local medical officer of health, was sitting in bed when ho suddenly discovered that his book was obscured by smoke. Ho called for help, and his daughter, running to the bedroom, found she could not see for smoke. The firo brigade was called, and Dr. Davison, who is almost" bedridden, was helped into another room. Blazing furniture was thrown into the garden. It is believed that the fire was caused by art electric stove, standing near a settee, being switched on instead of the radio sot. and setting firo to tho furniture. If Dr. Da vison, who is blind in one eye, had been asleep, ho would probably have been suffocated.
