THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE RISE IN FARMERS' TRADING Active conditions wore not maintained on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and the turnover was substantially smaller than on the previous day. Levels in banks and insurances were easier. Support for most Government loans was unchanged, with a slightly firmer tendency in the medium-term 4 per cent stork. A parcel of 1950 4 per cent stock changed hands at the current rate, £1.13 7s Gd. Marked interest was shown in Bank of New Zealands, four lots of which were released unchanged at 48s Bd. Subsequently, supplies were available at 48s 7d. but inquiry also was easier. Holders of Nationals of New Zealand firmed slightly after dealing at the current rate, £3 10s. Continued weakness in the Australian issues was reflected in a sale of Nationals of Australasia, £5 paid, at £6 3s Gd, a fall of 4s 6d since September 11. Reserve Batiks were sought Gd higher at £6 10s 9d, a poller appearing at £6 lis. Bidding was on a lower level for Now ' Zealand Insurance, which sold 3d lower at 69s 9d, more beine available at that price. No, other business was done in this sect on, although there were accommodation movements in South British. The strong demand for Farmers' Trading shares was a feature of operations iu the general sections. A rise in offers was accompanied by selling at 6s Gd and 7s, a full gain of 9d. The B preference issue was done 3d dearer at 14s (id. Dunlop-Perdriaus changed hands Id dearer at 20s, and Wilsons Cements sold twico at the current price, 345. Colonial Sugars were available 15s lower at £74 ss, but buyers dropped out of the market. The E?tchange will be closed on Monday, Labour Day.
