LARGE EXPENDITURE
EMERGENCY PURPOSES UNITED STATES TREASURY (Received October 18. 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 During the three and a-half months ended on October 15 the Government expended 1,015,000,000 dollars for emergency purposes, the Treasury announced to-day. The receipts for the same period totalled 1,121,000,000 dollars. The public debt on October 15 totalled 27.200,000,000 dollars, compared with 23,055,000,000 dollars a year ago.
