POWER-BOAT ASSOCIATION SUCCESSFUL PAST SEASON The success of the past season, especially with regard to the financial position, was referred to by Dr. 0. G. Long, commodore, who presided fit the annual meeting or the New Zealand PowerBoat Association last evening. In moving the adoption of tha report And balance-sheet, a. summary of which appeared in the J3ekali> last Tuesday, Dr. Long stated the asspciation had completed the year with 9. credit baiance in hand and ths clubhouse was now free of debt. There were still a few debentures to be redeemed, but it waft hoped to pay these ofi irt the near future. Interest oil all debentures had been paid up to date. Compared with the previous year the subscriptions were not so large, but the locker fees were almost double. On the year's working the association was £'2o better off than for the previous eeason. It was decided to oppose stronely the proposal of the Bay of Islands Harbour Board apportioning the petrol refund to the harbour boards instead of launch owners. It was pointed out the proposal woujd be unjust arid unfair in every wfty and should not be allowed to become law. Returning thanks for bis reelection as commodore. f)r Long; said it was the intention of the association to. hold cruising as Well as harbour race* this season. The oucstion of holding a apeed-boat championship race confined to Auckland only Would also receive the favourable of the association. Ho was not. in a position to sav whether the association would enter a challenge for the Miisport Cup this season. Mr. A. J. Collings suggested that it niipht be possible to secure an ertoine arid build a very cheap hoat and challenge for the Cuti.
