INCREASED BUILDING BRITAIN NEARLY DOUBLE^ LONDON, Oct. The tonnage of shipping under construction in Britain and Ireland on September 30 was 604,296, or nearly double the amount, of a year ago. This upward tendency was also maintained abroad with 707,091 tons more. According to Lloyd's Register the various totals are: Japan, 149,750 tons; France, 120,868; Germany, 120,816; Denmark, 74,938; Holland, 70,735; Italy, 37,970; Sweden, 64,565; and the United States, 22,225. Motor ships in the world totalled 764,909 tons and oil tankers 324,712 tons. —. /
