THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE HIGH PRICES FOR INSURANCES Steady conditions ruled in the investment market at the single' call on the Auckland Stock Exchange 011 Saturday. Nominal interest was shown in some sections and trading was light. Practically all Government loans were sought at lato levels, the absence of offers for iho 1940 4 per cent issues being noticeable. Supplies were not heavy and 110 business was recorded. Tho current rate. £lO5, was maintained jn a sale of Amalgamated Brick (Auckland) debentures. The demand for banks was restricted and no transfers were made. Offers improved for Australians, while New South Wales were a shade easier on demand. Support for New Zealands and Beserve Banks were unchanged. Downward movements developed in levels for insurance shares, but trading took place at higher price?. New Zealands, which were available 3d lower at 69s 9d, were done at tho record price of 69s Gd, a rise of 3d. Standards changed hands twice at 69s 3d, a gain of 2s 3d Within a month. South British were sought Is 6d lower at 92s 6d, a seller appearing at 97s 6d. In the general sections, dealing was confined to Renown Collieries, which sold 6d dearer at 4s 6d, and Consolidated Bricks, unchanged at lis.
