SEA LION ON BEACH
OBSERVED NEAR WHANGAROA [from our own correspondent] WHANG AREI, Tuesday A sea lion was seen by several Maoris and other visitors who were spending a week-end at the Pauto station, just outside Whangaroa Harbour. The sea lion was about 10ft. in length and was seen to emerge from the sea and crawl up the beach. It submitted to a close inspection, and was eventually driven back into the sea. This is the third occasion during recent years that one of those animals has come ashore on the Pfiuto beach.
