HOUSE MAY ADJOURN

RESUMING IN FEBRUARY j MR. FORBES' INDICATION DAIRYING LEGISLATION [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Factors governing the remaining length of the session were outlined by the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, when replying to a question by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage, in tho House of Representatives to-night. Mr. Forbes moved for urgency for six classes of Estimates, and remarked that it was desirable to get through the work of the session in good time. "Perhaps you could tell us what truth there is in newspaper statements that we will rise at the end of this month," said the. Leader of thb Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage. "I cannot say that anything has been decided," replied Mr. Forbes. "We are still waiting for two very important commissions to report. Those reports may require a good deal of legislation, but we are riot yet aware whether that will be so. That question may determine whether or not we may require an adjournment to enable the country to have a knowledge of the reports before we start on tho legislation." The Prime Minister did not elaborate the future programme further, but his remarks generally support tho suggestion made several weeks ago that Parliament will meet again early next year to deal with the balance of tho dairying legislation and with tho National Mortgage Corporation legislation. It is the first time that Mr. Forbes has given colour to that possibility, and it seems fairly, certain that endeavours will be made to complete immediate business by about the end of tho month, after which the adjournment will be taken unt:il early next year, thus obviating tho necessity for going through the preliminaries incidental to the opening of a special session.
