NAVAL PARLEYS
EARLY LONDON MEETING ATTITUDE OF JAPAN LONDON, Sepi 26 It is believed that, a naval conference in connection with the Washington Treaty will be convened for April next. Probably it will be held in London, after the preliminaries are fixed there about the middle of next month. Japan is anxious for an April conference, and that the London Treaty expiring in 1936 should also be discussed at it. It is expected that Admiral Yamamoto, chief Japanese delegate, who is to arrive in London on October 15, will give the required year's notice of denunciation of the Washington Treaty. 1 Japan's counter pariliy proposals are so far not disclosed. Mr. Norman Davis, probably will represent the United States at the preliminary meeting. The Dominions will not participate, but will be advised daily through their High Commissioners. The discussions really will develop into a miniature naval conference, the results of which will decide the fate of the 1935 conference, whose prospects remain doubtful. Government quarters do not confirm a morning newspaper's report that pending the conference, Britain will delay her 1935-36 nava.l programme as a disarmament gesturei.
