FIRE IN MELBOURNE
DESTRUCTION OF STORE THIEVES UNDER SUSPICION (Received September 30, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE. Sept. 30 Thieves, who blew open three safes, and a strongroom of a furniture store in South Melbourne last night, are alleged to have set fire to the building, which was destroyed. The damage is estimated at £60,000. It is believed that the intruders were annoyed at their failure to make a substantial haul.
