FEDERAL ELECTION
(Received September 26, 10.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 26 Further returns are now to hand in connection with the Federal general election. The Government candidate, Mr. J. M. Lawson, has retained the Macquarrie seat in the House of Representatives by defeating the State Labour candidate, Mr. A. S. Luchetti, by 3263 votes. The Fremantle seat, Western Australia, has been won back for Federal Labour by Mr. J. Curtin, who has defeated the Nationalist candidate, Mrs. A. F. Cardell-Oliver by 1028 votes.
