WALKER DEFEATS MEYER PALMERSTON NORTH MATCH [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS aSSOCUTIOX] PALMERBTON NORTH, Wednesday George Walker, substituting at very short uotioe for Gus Sonnenburg, who was nnable to fly from Auckland because of rough weather, defeated Fred JJieyer in a thrilling match in the Opera House to-night. There was a large audience. Meyer secured the first fall in the third round, with a body press following a succession of headiocks. Then Walker applied two Boston crabs within a minute in the fifth round. He sat on Meyer, who was crawling through his legs, tucked his toes under his arms and secured the equalising fall.
Meyer was game, but obviously distressed when the gong sounded for the next round. Walker Tjras unwilling to punish him further, but Meyer signalled him on, and Walker -promptly picked up his legs for a second Boston crab.
