DEVONPORT AFFAIRS
A decision to proceed with the erection of a bus shelter at the corner of Malvern and Old Lake Roads at a cost of £35 was reached at a meeting of the Devonport Borough Council last night. A letter was received from the Auckland Harbour Board stating that it would contribute £5 toward the cost. A deputation 'waited upon the council to urge the construction of a pavilion at the north-western end of the Narrow Neck beach. It was suggested that the Vauxhall Hall be used in the construction of the building, which would incorporate bathing sheds and boat lockers. It was decided to hold the matter over until the costs of construction and methods for financing the scheme could be ascertained.
