GRAVE SITUATION
LIMERICK RATEPAYERS NUMEROUS DEFAULTERS LONDON. Sept. 20 The Dublin correspondent of the Daily Mail states that the Irish Free State Minister of Public Health, Mr. Sean T. O'Kelly, is considering a grave situation which has arisen in Limerick owing to the numerous defaulting ratepayers. The County Council already has an overdraft of £BO,OOO and has obtained the Government's permission to increase it to £120,000. The bank, however, has refused the increase, suggesting that the council ask the Government for the money. This is regarded as an ultimatum to the Government. The banks also have refused increases for other county councils' overdrafts, though they were sanctioned by the Government. It is expected that the authorities will now order further large seizures of property of defaulting ratepayers.
