PRINCESS MARINA
GUEST AT GHILLIES' BALL KING AS AN ONLOOKER LONDON. Sept. 19 Prince George's fiancee, Princess Marina, was the guest of honour at a special ghillies and tenants' ball at Balmoral. She displayed unexpected skill in the Scottish reels and danced one with Prince George. The 150 male guests were kilted mostly in the Stuart hunting tartan, and the women wore tartan sashes across their corsages. Although the King was* only an onlooker the Queen danced frequently. It was noteworthy that no saxophones or drums were included in the band as the King dislikes them, while fox trots and other modern dances were reserved until the King and the Royal guests had left the ballroom.
Plans have been made for a big banquet and another ball at the castle before Princess Marina's visit ends.
Prince George spent much time yesterday showing the many beauty spots around Balmoral to Princess Marina. He called on many tenants and introduced them to the Princess. Afterward the Princess accompanied the King and Queen and her own parents on visits round the estate, while Prince George and the Duke of York went deer stalking in the neighbouring hills.
