FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA
HAWKE'S BAY AIRMAN DEPARTURE FROM ENGLAND LONDON. SeDt. 18 A New Zealand airman, Mr. G. White, who held a short-service commission in the Royal Air Force, has left for Australia in a Gipsy Moth. He pr»>poso%. to fly by easy stages to Sydney and thence ship his aeroplane to New Zealand. His home is in Hawke's Bay.
A Press Association telegram from Hastings states that Mr. White, who is 23 years old, is the son of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. W. White, of Havelock North. He was educated at Heretaunga—now Hereworth —School, and later at Hastings High School, where he was a pupil for three years. He then took up flying as a pupil of the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Aero Club. Sir. White secured a post in the Royal Air Force, and went to England, where he was given a shortservice commission about two years ago. .
