DANCE AT BAYSWATER
PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS A carnival dance was held at the Takapuna Boating CluH house at Bays- j water last evening. The arrangements were made by a ladies' committee, who also served the supper. The prizes were awarded as follows: —Most original lady's costume, Miss Shaw, who repre- J sented "No More War, No More Strikes"; best lady's costume, Miss Cooke, as a Spanish senorita; most original man's costume, Mr. Bert Goider, as a clergyman; best man's costume, Mr. J. Pollard, as a coster* Among those present were:—Mrs. A. j Braund (wife of the club commodore), who wore black georgette; Mrs. M. Connelly, tango lace and floral velvet coatee, Mrs. W. Verran, black lace; Mrs. J. Deacon, primrose satin; Mrs. J. Williamson, black lace; Mrs. Inkster, black and white figured crepe; Mrs. C. H. Kirkham, black lace: Mrs. Hollier, black crepe satin; Mrs. Bennett, cameo Sink satin and lace; Mrs. Rowan, black oral chiffon; Mrs. J. Woodward, black velvet; Mrs. Chapman, briar rose satin beaute; Mrs. Deck, black georgette with sequinned trimming; Mrs. Lawrence, tomato red satin and black lace; Mrs. Harrison, midnight blue marocain; Mrs. J. Powell, black windswept velvet; Mrs. J. Thompson, Saracen red lace and georgette with black velvet coatee; Mrs. Bramley, cardinal red satin; Mrs. Booth, winecoloured lace; Mrs. Hall, red velvet; Miss Joy Verran, cameo pink lace and apple green georgette; Miss D_. Lewis, white sprigged organdie; Miss Cambridge, checked organdie; Miss C. Foster, pink frilled satin; Miss G. Rothery, pink and white floral voile. Among those in fancy costumes were: Mrs. J. McLeod, who represented an advertisement; Mrs. Pollard, a coster; Mrs. F. J. Hooker, " carnival Mrs. B. Smith, Irish colleen; Mrs. Boyd, Island dancer; Mrs. Rambaud, gipsy; Miss Jean McLeod, black and white pierette: Miss Powell, gipsy; Miss Smith, black and white pierette; Miss U. Thompson, Eastern princess.
