Mrs. B. H. Edkins, Kerikeri, is spending a few days' at the Grand Hotel, and will later be the guest of her mother, Mrs. Wilfred Rathbone, St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell.

To welcome home the Rev. N. O. White, of St. George's Presbyterian Church, at Takapuna, who has been visiting Queensland, the members of the congregation met at the manse on Monday evening. Musical items were given and supper was served by the ladies present.

Mrs. B. C. B. Brooke, wife of Commander B. C. B. Brooke, R.N., of H.M.S. Philomel, entertained the members of the committee of the Devonport sub-branch of the Navy League at an afternoon tea party on hoard the Philomel on Tuesday. Among those present were Mrs. Cleland Pottie (president), Mrs. H. Melvin (secretary), Mrs. Cleal, Mrs. T. Palmer, Mrs. Long, Miss Burtrand and Miss Lund. Mrs. J. T. Lean and Mrs. Garfield Stewart were also present.

There was a large attendance at the monthly At Home arranged by the Ladies' Guild of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Otahuhu, in the church hall. An address was given by the American Consul, Mr. W. F. Boyle, and items were contributed by Mrs. Quin, Mrs. McLennan and Miss Ruby Wallace. They were accorded hearty thanks on a motion by the Rev. A. M. Elliffe. Afternoon tea was served, the committee responsible for the arrangements being Mesdames A. T. McLaren, J. Moffitt, Webb, R. Rankin, McCord, W. Morton, J. Clark, A. Russell and Andrew.
