FREE AMBULANCES
CHRISTCHURCH ASSOCIATION WINDING-UP CONFIRMED [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday The executive committee of the Christchurch Free Ambulance Association last night confirmed its previous resolution to wind up the association's affairs. A meeting of creditors of the association will be held on September 26, when a decision on the appointment of a liquidator will be made.
The Christchurch Free Ambulance Association started operations in 1931. Once it had four vehicles on the road, but for a year it has been operating only one ambulance. Soon after the establishing of this association, the St. John Ambulance Association, which had previously charged for services to patients able to pay, made its ambulances free. It suffered a considerable loss of revenue.
