THE PROBLEM CLUB
At a meeting of the Problem Club held in the Pacific Club rooms, Mrs. V. M. Von Sturmer presided over a large attendance of members. It was decided to send a remit to the National Council of Women by the club's delegates on the matter of free speech. Dr. Wilkie gave an address, her subject being, "Memories of India." She also showed some of the brass utensils so mucty used, by the Indian people in their daily life as well as a Burmese dress, Miss Carter acting as the model. Mrs. Ruby Watson gave an illuminating talk on "Our Disappearing Forests," Mrs. Simmons also speaking on the same subject. It was decided to send the following recommendation to the Government: —That a board be appointed to control the cutting of native bush and that no person be allowed to cut more than an acre without authority of the board.
