FINAL OF ROOPE ROOSTER RICHMOND TO PLAY MARIST MATCH FOR PHELAN SHIELD The final of the Auckland Rughv League's Roope Rooster knock-out competition will be played at Carlaw Park to-morrow when Richmond, winners of the senior championship, will meet Marist. If.groun,d conditions are favourable a fast game should result. On form the prospects of Richmond are favoured, although Marist may hold the champions better than is generally expected. Marist lias improved as the season progressed and its forwards are likely to provide strong opposition for the Richmond vanguard. The Marist rearguard has some young players in its ranks and if they can get the ball from the scrums the backs should do well on attack. As a curtain-raiser Newton will meet Ponsonby for the Phelan Shield and another faßt and open match should be provided. The teams are evenly matched and play the open type of game In tho reserve grade City and Richmond will play for the Stallard Cup on No; 2 ground.
