FAREWELL FUNCTION
OTAHUHU WORKSHOPS A carnival evening to take official farewell of Mr. A. E. P. Walworth, manager of the Otahuhu railway workshops, was held in the social hall at the workshops last evening. The social committee made a presentation to Mr. Walworth, who is retiring after 35 years' service. Over 400 members and friends of the staff assembled and there was a brilliant scene of colour and gaiety. The hall was attractively decorated with streamers and coloured lights. Dance music was provided by an orchestra under the direction of Mr. Al. Clark. The programme was directed by Mr. J. McDowell. The arrangements for the evening were made by the committee, comprising Messrs. J. McDowell, H. Revell, W. Leitch, F. Watters, H. R. Johnston, H. Goldsmith, R. Neill, E. C. Ledbrook, F. Ainsley, S. Clark, E. T. Stone and E. Clarke. Supper, which was provided in the lesser social room, was served under the direction of a committee of ladies.
