FADING OF DOCUMENTS
A discovery made by the accountant of an old-established New Plymouth firm raises an interesting point—will type-written documents preserved for reference in Government or other departments be of any use in 50 or 60 years? The New Plymouth man had occasion to refer to a precis of accounts typed in 15)1.3 and he discovered that the ink had. in the intervening 20 years, faded to such an extent that many figures could be deciphered only with the greatest difficulty. A similar discovery was made in the War Office in London a few years ago, and certain documents were copied in a special nonfading ink.
