TOWN-PLANNING WORK
SCHEMES AT A STANDSTILL "LITTLE MORE THAN FARCE" "The resignation of tUe director of town-planning, Mr. J. W. Mawson, seems to have killed tho Town-Planning Act," said Mr. T. G. Murray, at a meeting of the Auckland branch of the Town Planning , Institute yesterday. "Tho whole thing is little more than a farce at present. There is no one to givo guidance or co-ordination to schemes of town-planning." ! The chairman, Mr. H. A. Lippincott, expressed the opinion that it would be only a matter of time before sufficient pressure was brought to bear to impress on tho Government the importance of town-planning work. Tho central council of tho institute was watching the position. Mr. W. H. Glimmer was nominated as the branch's representative on the Dominion council.
