The Misses E. and R. Price, Thames, are at the Central Hotel. Mrs. Horace A. Scott, Cheltenham, is staying at Springside, Helensville. Mrs. Alexander Kinder is spending the school holidays at- her homo in Port Waikato. Mrs. Aitken Commons and Mrs. H. Reid Bell, Victoria Avenue, Remuera, are spending a holiday at Okoroiro. Sir Harold and Lady Beanchamp, Wellington, are spending a short holiday at Springside Hotel, Parakai, Helensville. Mrs. M. Mcßcth and Miss Mcßeth, who recently returned from a tour of Great Britain and Europe, have taken up their residence in Gillies Avenue. In honour of the visiting basketball and football teams from the Rotorua High School a dance was organised by the members of the Gth and 6th forms of tho Takapuna Grammar School and held in the Boating Clubhouse at Bayswater. Several of tho masters of tho Grammar School with their wives attended the dance. I The Milford Brownies and Girl Guide Company held their birthday parties at the Picturedrome at Milford on Friday evening. Games and competitions were played arid tea was served later by members of the committee. Mrs. James Thompson, district commissioner, was among those present and a number of mothers of Brownies and Guides also attended.

A meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Ex Libriis Societv was held at the residence of Mrs. F. \V. Wilson, when an interesting address on " Prints " was given by Mr. J. W. Shaw, illustrated with many beautiful examples from his own collection. The president, Mr. Alexander Geddes, thanked the speaker at the conclusion of the meeting.

The monthly meeting of the BelmontBayswater branch of the League of brothers was held on Thursday in the Belmont Presbyterian Hall. It took the form of a social gathering. Mrs. W. Verran presided and welcomed three new members. The winners of the competitions were Mrs. J. Sehultz, Mrs. Rainbow and Mrs. Carhill. The tea hostesses were Mrs. West, Sirs. Gilmour, Mrs. J. Brown and Mrs. Lewis.
