WAIKOKOPU HARBOUR

ANOTHER REPORT DESIRED MR. HOLDERNESS APPROACHED With the object of securing a report on the Waikokopu Harbour the Wairoa Harbour Board has approached the engineer of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. D. Holderness. In a letter to Mr. Holderness it was stated that the board was anxious to have an unbiassed report upon the schemes that had already been proposed. When the question of permission arose for discussion at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday, the chairman, Mr. T. B. Clay, explained that while Mr. Holderness had not refused, he had written to the Wairoa Board to the effect that he preferred the "work to be undertaken by a consulting engineer and that his fee would be no less than if such a person were to make the report. Permission was granted Mr. Holdersaess to undertake the work if he is agreeable. It was stated that he would not be able/ to reply to the Wairoa Board as to his fee until more information had been received.
