THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE active dealing in loans Increased selling of Government loans was a dominant feature of an active day on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Business was done in practically every issuo but price movements were of a minor nature. For 1940 4 per cent stock 10s more was paid at £IOB, and 1946's had salo only 5s lower than the level of rum interest business earlier this month. Other dealing was at unchanged rates. In addition to the largo turnover in gilt-edge securities, trading in other investment sections was heavy. Reserve I Banks continued to show strength and had sale at £6 8s 6d, an advance of Is 3d. New Zealatuls were done unaltered at 475, while Commercials fell 5d on sale at 15s 7d. Others ,were fairly steady on the levels. New Zealand Insurance lost further ground in dealing at 60s 9d, a fall of 9d. Subsequent-inquiry was maintained at that price. The easing in South British was checked with a rise of 3d in business at 82s Od. Dealing in loan and ngencv and coals t was at steady levels. Auckland Gas advanced sharply to change hands at 25s sd, a rise of 2d, but tho contributing issue was dealt in unchanged at 18s (3d. Of the industrial issues dealt in Electrolytic Zincs preference advanced Is in a transaction at 355, and New Zealand Newspapers moved up 3d to :11s 6d. Robinson Ice and Consolidated tricks were firm at late rates On. the unofficial list Woolworths (Sydney) were again secured at easier levels, declining 9d*to 69s 3d. Claude Neon Lights; were taken Is higher at 5 - s od and Eldorados moved up os. closing quotations
