WIN FOR NORTH SHORE

OLD BOYS' TEAM BEATEN A fairly interesting match was witnessed in the meeting of North Shore and Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys, the former securing a well-deserved victory by a margin of two goals. Although the majority of the play was confined to haphazard exchanges between the respective back divisions, there were occasions when the spectators were treated to pretty and well-conceived moves. The Mount Albert side did not give anything like its usual display, there being a marked absence of understanding between the forward and bnck divisions, while the passing of the forwards, also their finish, could have shown great improvement. The inclusion of Lund, the Navy player, at centre-half for North Shore made a decided difference to the team, which displayed much more thrust than it did the previous week against Y.M.C.A. North Shore took the lead in the first half and scored two goals, which left it ■with 14 safe margin at the interval, 'here ■was rio further score in the second half, but this was not so much due to lack of trying as to the poor shooting of both teams. A number of splendid opportunities ■were misled by both teams owing to this weakness in front of goal. Cowie handled safely in the >«orth Shore goal and he had solid support from the fullbacks, Ekman and Gerrard. Lund dominated matters in the halves, covering a lot of ground in furthering the side's offensive and defensive work. The forwards were spasmodic in their work, the most impressive being Tite, Blackie and Steveneon , . , Sufficient confidence was not shown by the Mount /Albert Grammar goalkeeper, Turley. and his handling at times must have been a source of worry to his team. A solid defence was nrovided by the two fullbacks. 0. Holds worth and Hormcks, the on'y major fault discernible in play being leek of placement in their clearing kick?. Angus was a hard worker in the forwards, but did not get much result for h ; s efforts. T n"ffrctive r>lay by Jepson, and Henlev robbed the line of most of its thru°t. Tite and Stevenson scored for North Shore. Mr. J. Wade was referee.
