STRAYING DOGS
POSSIBLE MENACE TO SHEEP ACTION AT WHANGAREI [fbom otjb own cobbespondent] WHANGAREI, Tuesday The potential danger to sheep from straying dogs was discussed at a meeting of the Whangarei Borough Council last night, when a report by the town clerk was adopted, The clerk proposed that a man be engaged for one week to impound registered dogs found not in iSie charge of any person and to destroy unregistered dogs. Mr. J. E. Holmes said the position was serious. Straying dogs were liable to do an immense amount of damage to sheep running on properties adjacent to the borough. He added: "My attention was drawn to no less than 12 wandering dogs in one locality close to where a large number of sheep were paddocked."
