JOINT LAW SOCIETIES

ANNUAL BALL HELD SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION A colourful scene, the effect of artistic decorations and charming frocks, was presented at the joint annual ball pf the Auckland District Law Society and tli3 Auckland University Law Students' Society, which was held in the Peter Pan Cabaret last evening. Masses of flowering acacias were placed in tubs at each corner of the dancing floor, while hanging baskets of ferns and slender vases of daffodils and anemones added to the decorativescheme. A novel feature was introduced by silhouettes of barrister's wigs which flanked the orchestral dais. The supper room was gay with tall vases of stocks, cyclamen and Iceland

poppies. • On arrival the guests were received by the president of the Auckland District Law Society, Mr. G. P. Finlay, and Professor R. M. Algie, Dean of the Faculty of Law. With them were Mrs. Finlay, who wore a frock of black Chantilly lace, and Mrs. Algie, in turquoise blue crepe faille. The ladies on the committee present were:—Mrs. H. E.
