EPSOM TRACK TRIALS FAST WORK ON CINDERS GUMDIGGER'S SOUND TASK BY ABAYDOS Weatlier conditions were most unfavourable for training operations at Epsom yesterday morning, when the cinders and sand track were used. Lhe former provided fairly firm footing, while the sand was holding. Gumdigger (G. Webb), from a standing Btart, ran a mile and a-half in 3.37 3-6. the last half in 1.9 3-5. He has shaped up well since coming to Epsom, and with a few more sharp runs should be in good • order for the meeting on August 25, Star Pronto (B. Dyer) went away two lengths ahead of Proletarian (I. R.. Morrison). and just managed to keep his head in front at the end of a mile and a-hali in 3.40. Star Pronto paced more K enorously than usual. Proletarian ran his last half in 1.10, and his display was attractive. Cimarron (1. R Morrison) covered a mile and a-half in 3.28 the first mile in 2.16. Although he has not been very long in serious training he has coine along, well. Kewpie's Triumph (J.
