GRANITES INVESTIGATION Pecent developments at the Granites goldfields, in Cehtral Australia, have attracted tlw attention of English capital. Arrangements have been made by certain English interests for an inspection by Sir Herbert Gopp, the metallurgical engineer and technical consultant to the Commonwealth Government. The use of a powerful aeroplane is proposed to expedite the work. The field was inspected recently by Dr. W. G. Woolnough, the geological adviser of the Commonwealth Government, and it is believed that ho formed the opinion thijt it is worth more extensive investigation than it has yet received. GOLD NUGGET FOUND The discovery of a nugget of gold weighing 112oz. was made recently in a claim two miles north .of Bowenvale, Victoria. The assay of the nugget was 64cz., and the return to the finders was £704. The claim is said to bo in new ground, and the find was made by a prospector who was working in a drive 20ft. in length when he saw the nugget protruding from the side.
