BADMINTON
AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The Auckland badminton championships will commence to-dav at 5.15 p.m. in No. 5 shed, King's Wharf. Patrons of the sport arc looking forward once again to some fine contests. The interclub competitions just concluded showed how evenly-matched the various players are who will participate in tho championships. Among the competitors will be several national and provincial title-holders in I. Ellett, G. Martin, A. F. Weir and P. Wilson and Misses A. Ellett, J. Ramsay and Mrs. P. Wrenn. Matches of interest this evening will be Martin v. Spencer, Weir v. I. Ellett, Hull v. Fow and Philson v. C. Ellett.
It is pleasing to note that so many outside competitors aro taking part in the tournament. Brock, of Helensville, Bryant, Morrinsville, H. Fow and Mrs. Fo'w, Hamilton, all appear as likely winners of some of the events. J. Neale, formerly of Wellington and Waikato champion, now playing for the Central Club, is also a distinct possibility. - The finals will be played on Saturday evening. Prizes won during the tournament wil} bo presented at a special dance to be given by the badminton authorities.
