UNLAWFULLY ON PROPERTY A plea of "not guilty" was entered by Maurice Tangney, agent, aged 38, Mho was charged before Mr. W. R. McKcan, S.M., in tho Police Court yesterday, with being found without lawful excuse on enclosed premises in Hosebank Road, Avondalo, on Monday. Evidence was given by Charles Cheyne, an elderly man, that accused called on Monday and persisted in a desiro to prune trees on witness' property, although witness informed accused that he did not want the work done. Accused commenced work on one tree, however, and he remained at work for six hours. 'Although accused was not olfensive in any way, he did not leave when asked to do so, and witness summoned Constable Maisey. Accused stated that the tree he was working on was affected by dry rot, and he wanted to improve its condition. He had a spare afternoon, and -ho had not wanted money for tho work. The .magistrate, who said accused should not annoy people, convicted him and ordered him to come up for sentence if called upon within six months, after Sub-Inspector Scott had said accused was known to the police.
