TO-DAY'S FINE ISSUE STRIKING ILLUSTRATIONS MANY ATTRACTIVE FEATURES To-day's publication of tho Weekly News is another bright and attractive issue of New Zealand's national illustrated journal. All tho outstanding and topical events of the past week at home and abroad are comprehensively illustrated in the large pictorial section and throughout the news pages. A contrast of (jld and new methods of log-hauling at one of New Zealand's kauri timber workings in the North Auckland district is tho subject of a particularly fine centre double-page.

The frontispiece has been devoted to interesting snapshots on track and lawn at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting at Addington, which inaugurated Grand National Carnival Week at Christchurch. In addition to the usual wealth of social topics,, notable weddings and personalities of the week, space has been found for a number of brilliant s#enes at the Robin Hood pageant in Auckland, and "The Arcadians," the popular light opera, staged by the Invercargill Operatic Society. One of the finest poems ever written on tho New Zealand bush, "The Garden of Tane," is presented on an appropriately decorated page. In his "War Memoirs," Mr. Lloyd George turns to discuss America's entry into the war, the diffident attitude of President Woodrow Wilson, and the difficulties met with in securing loans for the Allies.

Leading the sporting section is an exclusive review by "Archer" of tho fields engaged at the Pakuranga Hunt meetiug at Ellerslic, next Saturday. In reminiscent vein, Mr. Ewen W. Alison, jun., writes of early troubles and final success in his acquisition of Royal Present. Rugby football talent in tho Wairarapa and Bush districts is surveyed in specially written articles. Other notable features include the first of a series of tales of the pioneers; the case for and against tho Alsatian dog summed up by "Terrier"; a complete story by John Winterfold; and the London fashion letter with illustrations of the latest models.
