FOOTBALL DISPUTE
OBJECTION TO REFEREE TAUMARUNUI COMPETITIONS [from our own correspondent] TAUMARUNUI. Tuesday The recent withdrawal of the Mahunui Rugby Football Club from all club competitions, owing to dissatisfaction with the treatment they had received from the Taumarunui Rugby SubUnion, was considered by the management committee of the sub-union on Monday evening. A deputation from the Manunui Club stated that members of the club objected to Mr. C. R. McLay rofereeing in matches in which they were playing, they did not approve of the present method of selecting referees and they wanted more matches played at Manunui. There were always good "gates" at Manunui, and better treatment in senior matches was desired. The club was prepared to take part in competitions again under certain conditions. .. After lengthy discussion the committee decided to accept the Manunui Club in competitions, and that the club's wishes regarding referees should be complied with.
