£3OOO DAMAGES CLAIMED
SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT ;i CARRIER'S LOSS OF LEG [by telegraph—press association WELLINGTON, Friday A claim for £3OOO general damages and £175 special damages was made in the Supreme Court to-day by William Harvey .Richards, motor driver, of Dannevirke, against David Kilpatrick, woolclasser, of Kaiwarra, sued in his capacity as the registered owner of a motorcycle, and Charles Leslie Turner, woolclasser, /of Kaiwarra. The case was heard before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, and a jury. It arose out of an accident at Heretaunga on April 17, as a result of which plaintiff suffered injuries which, owing to gangrene, necessitated the amputation of a leg. Plaintiff alleged that the accident was duo to the negligent management of Kilpatrick's motor-cycle and that at the time i,t Was being ridden by Turner. The defence was a denial of negligence, and also contributory negligence. The hearing was not concluded.
