NEWTON MEDICAL MISSION

A SPLENDID WORK The Newton Congregational Medical Mission bold its second annual meeting. A comprehensive report of the year's work was given by the secretary, Mrs. Hynes. i

The year had proved to be a successful one and splendid work had been accomplished in the seven different departments of the mission, which carries on its work every Tuesday. Unanimity of purpose and a willingness to serve when called upon were dominant, features of the mission. Pastor Cooney thanked Mrs. Cammell (supervisor), the nurses of St. John Ambulance, also Nurse Bex, for their untiring help given during the year; also the helpers who had worked for the benefit of the hundreds of boys and girls who had passed through their hands. The following figures represented the year's work: —Medical treatments, 1696; dressings, 2450; teas served, 300; boots mended, 165; hair cuts, 420; cocoa and biscuits served, 1700; children entertained in the hall, 3568. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Pastor Cooney; conveners, Mr. E. Ryan and Mr. Hobson; lady superintendent, Mrs. Hobson'; hon. secretary, Mrs. W. Hynes; treasurer. Miss Hobson. Mr. Alexander has charge of entertainment for the children and is assis ted by Miss Bona Beadle.
