KEG OF BEER STOLEN
FINE OF £1 ON OFFENDER The theft oi a three-gallon keg of beer, valued 'at £1 18s 6d, was admitted in the Police Court yesterday by a blacksmith, Albert Victor Ryan, who appeared voluntarily. Senior-Detective Hall said that accused had been drinking with a friend in a city hotel and on walking out had removed the keg, which was standing on a bench He said he remembered getting into a taxi with it, but could not remember anything else until he woke up in bed fully dressed. Ihe whereabouts of the keg was not known, but full restitution had been made. "This may have been more in the nature of a drunken prank than anything 6lse," said the magistrate, Mr. W. R. MeKean, in fining accused £l, in default seven days' imprisonment.
