LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Ponsonbv. —Fifteen new members were enrolled at a meeting of the branch at which Mrs. S. O. English presided. The following officers were re-elected for the ensuing year:— President, Mrs. S. 0. English; vicepresidents, Mesdaines Williams, J. A. C. Allum, Millar, Gadsby; secretary, Mrs. R. H. Horsley; treasurer, Mrs. W. H. Craig; committee, Mesdames Marsh, Dunham, Leyland, Hall, Morgan, Hooker, Hale, Brown, Howard, Lambert and ltenner. Several members took part in "Toatime Tempest," a homorous one-act play showing the evils of talking scandal. Bouquets were presented to the president, the secretary, the treasurer and to the ladies taking part in the play. Waikare.—Mrs. Wntorhouse, a local member, gave a practical talk on glove-making. During the afternoon Mrs. R. Metcalfe, who is a life member of the league, was presented on behalf of the members by the president, Mrs. W. B. Lloyd, with an electric reading lamp and bouquet .is an expression of the gratitude felt at the generosity of Mrs. Metcalfe mi giving the use of a room for all meetings. Mrs. C. D. May-Somorville had arranged a competition, the prize (donated by Mrs. Lloyd), being won by Mrs. (). G. Robertson. Mrs. James Stewart gave tho thought for the month, after which tea was served by tho hostesses, Mesdames C. Marshall, 0. Holdon, W. Bonnet, Robbie, H. Hall.

Arapuni.—The annual meeting and ejection of officers was hold last week, tho vice-president, Mrs. Rainford, presiding. The following members wore elected to office: — President, Mrs. G. M. Griffin; vice-president, Mrs. Aikman; secretary, Mrs. Booth; committee members, Mrs. Ackland and Mrs. J. D. Williams, During the afternoon Mrs. Rainford and Mrs'. Ackland gave a duet. A "bring and buy" stall was a success. Afternoon tea brought to a close a very pleasant afternoon.
