PENWOMEN'S CLUB
Owing to the absence of Mrs. C. D. McLean, Mrs. R. Innes presided over tho monthly meeting of tho literature study section of the league, when Mrs. J. Barr gave a paper on Sir James Barrio. She analysed tho work of both his novels and plays, and gave several reminiscences of his life. Several readings of extracts were enjoyed, including two one-act plays, "Shall We Join the Ladies?" and "Seven Women," Mrs. J. Howie being responsible for their dramatisation. There was a large number of members and visitors present and all enjoyed tho comprehensive paper and tiio delightful and varied illustrations.
