ONE TREE HILL RATES
SATISFACTORY POSITION It was reported by the town clerk, Mr. A. Leese, at a meeting of the One Tree Hill Borough Council last evening that at the expiry of the period allowed for the 2i per cent rebate on rates, a total of £11,133 had been paid out of £23,450 levied. After deducting Crown rates, the percentage paid was 47.5, compured with 43 per cent the previous year. Rate arrears paid to July 31 amounted to £1154 out of £4230 outstanding, or 27.2 per cent, compared with 22.6 per cent last year. Water rates for the half-year ended June 1, paid by July 31, were 80 per cent of the total, compared with 71.6 per cent for the corresponding period in 1933. The report stated that the figures must bo gratifying to the council, as it would again be possible to carry out the programme of work for the year, without incurring any charge for overdraft interest.
