RETURN OF L. BROWN
PLAYING RECORD IN ENGLAND After an absence of eight years in Ensla ml , under contract with Rugby League clubs, L. Brown returned to Auckland yesterday by the Rangitane. Brown joined up in 1927 with Wigan. where he played brilliant football on the wing. Three years later he was transferred to Halifax, and two seasons apo to York. Brown has on many occasions been claimed as the most versatile threequarter ever acquired from New Zealand. In (ho seasons 1929-30-31 he was among the first six iu scoring aggregates in the English Rugby League competition, and on two occasions played in the Northern Union Cup finals. His many trophies include handsome gold medals as a participant in cup finals, Brown had the honour on two occasions of being chosen to represent the All Nations team against England. He has not announced hi* future activities. although it who stated yesterday ho may play with City Rovers, his former Auckland club team.
